Bandits reprisal attack leaves five dead, four injured in Zamfara

At least five persons were feared dead while four others sustained injuries in a reprisal attack by bandits in Zamfara State.

This was made known in a post on X by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region.

Makama said the incident began when the kingpin sent a resident to collect a phone battery.

The publication added that the resident was attacked during the errand, and the battery was seized.

It said that suspecting foul play, the kingpin allegedly shot and killed the resident.

According to Makama, in reaction, the local community retaliated and killed the kingpin.

“Subsequent reprisal attacks by armed bandits led to five confirmed fatalities and injuries to four additional persons.

“The engagement occurred in a densely populated rural area, with threats of further escalation imminent,” the publication said.
