Veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie, has offered insight into why Igbo men often face challenges in Nigerian politics, attributing it to their low tolerance for betrayal.
Speaking during an interview on Afia TV, the iconic actor stated that the average Igbo man is not psychologically wired to endure political treachery repeatedly, which he said is a common feature in the nation’s political landscape.
“In politics, people are used to treachery. But the Igbo man is not constituted to condone treachery a second time,” Edochie remarked.
He explained that once an Igbo individual feels betrayed or deceived, they often cut off ties completely, making it difficult to build or sustain long-term political alliances.
“The moment you exhibit treachery in your involvement with an Igbo man, they cut you off. That’s it,” he added.
Edochie’s comments have sparked discussions about the role of cultural values and emotional disposition in shaping political behavior and participation among different ethnic groups in Nigeria.
