“I Wore Pain Like a Second Skin”: Tonto Dikeh Shares Candid Story of Overcoming Depression and Anger

Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has shared a heartfelt story about her spiritual rebirth, revealing seven personal battles that she says the Holy Spirit helped her overcome.

In an emotional post on Instagram, the mother of one opened up about her journey from emotional turmoil to inner peace, describing it as a divine process that reshaped her heart and habits.

According to Dikeh, she once struggled deeply with uncontrollable anger that cost her relationships and opportunities.

“There was a time I had a fuse so short it could set everything ablaze. I mistook my pain for strength, but it was only destroying me,” she revealed.

She explained that true change began when she surrendered completely to God, allowing Him to replace her rage with calm and understanding.

The actress also spoke candidly about her past battles with depression and emotional pain, confessing that there was a time she felt consumed by sadness and even attempted suicide.

“I was living as both the wound and the weapon. Depression was my companion; I wore pain like a second skin until God said, ‘Rise,’ and I did.”

Tonto added that her healing has taught her to approach others with empathy rather than judgment.

“When I see people acting from a place of pain, I don’t condemn them; I pray for them. I know how it feels to lose yourself while trying to survive,” she noted.

The screen star further disclosed that she has turned away from sexual immorality and now practices celibacy as part of her renewed faith.

Reflecting on her past, she said, “I gave my life to Christ after secondary school but took His love for granted. Life humbled me, and through that pain, I returned to my first love, God.”
