I Paid N16 Million for Mohbad’s Second Autopsy – Father Alleges

Lagos, Nigeria — Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has claimed that he paid N16 million for an independent autopsy on his son’s body.

Speaking during a recent TikTok live session, Aloba said he personally made the payment to a pathologist to uncover the true cause of his son’s controversial death.

“With all sincerity, I paid the first tranche of N16 million to the pathologist. After that, I spent close to N2 million. So, if the pathologist can come out to deny my claim, then don’t believe me again,” he stated.

He also refuted reports that he paid a lesser amount. “Some people were saying it was N12 million that I paid, but I’m still telling you now that I paid N16 million,” he said.

This revelation comes roughly a month after the release of an independent autopsy and forensic medical review conducted by Dr. Uwom Eze, which failed to determine the specific cause of Mohbad’s death.

The second autopsy was permitted in June 2024 by T.A. Shotobi, a Coroner Court magistrate in Ikorodu, Lagos, after Aloba was granted the right to appoint a licensed pathologist for the procedure.

Mohbad, a rising star in Nigeria’s music scene, died in September 2023 under mysterious circumstances, sparking nationwide outrage and calls for justice.
