Hope Uzodinma Appoints Renowned Cleric as Special Adviser to Foster Religious Tolerance in Imo State”

 

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has named the immediate past Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Imo State Chapter, Rev. Dr. Divine Eches Divine, as his Special Adviser on Religious Affairs.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Oguwike Nwachukwu made the appointment known in a press statement made available to journalists.

He stated that the Governor, while congratulating Rev Eches on the new appointment, described him as a man of integrity who will help to advance the course of religious tolerance among different faiths in the State.

According to the press statement, it was expected that the former CAN chairman would bring his wealth of experience, not just to serve the State but to deploy the same in ensuring that Imo becomes a better place for everyone.

Before the recent appointment, Rev. Eches has served as an elected Chairman of CAN, Imo State in 2020, a position he relinquished following a successful handover to a successor.

According to Nwachukwu, during the five years that Rev Eches held office as CAN boss in the State, he discharged his roles in ways that also brought accolades to him from his superiors working in God’s vineyard, both within and outside.

Before becoming the State CAN chairman, he had held other key positions in the association, such as Secretary, Director of Education, Youth and Women Development, Deputy Publicity Secretary, among others.

He is also a strong member of the Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA, ministry, holds a Doctorate Degree in Theology, and was at different times, Chaplain of Enyimba Football Club, Aba, and Super Eagles of Nigeria.

He is a native of Isiala Mbano LGA in Imo State.

The appointment, according to the press statement, takes immediate effect.
