AWGU, ENUGU STATE — January 6, 2026:
Ndubuisi Crescent Aniemeka has been honoured with multiple prestigious chieftaincy titles in recognition of his sustained commitment to the welfare and empowerment of persons living with disabilities in Awgu Local Government Area, Enugu State.
The honours began on January 1, 2026, at Owelli Court in Awgu, where he was formally conferred with the revered traditional Igbo title Ozo Nwachimereze. The ceremony featured deeply rooted cultural rites, including the symbolic rubbing of chalk on his tongue and the sprinkling of water on his head — rituals signifying purity, honour, and the responsibilities attached to traditional leadership.
The recognition continued on January 6 at the Awgu Local Government Headquarters when the Joint National Association of Persons with Disability (JONAPWD), Awgu Chapter, conferred on him the title Eze Omenauko Aku na JONAPWD. The association noted that the honour reflects his unwavering advocacy, inclusive leadership, and support initiatives for persons with disabilities in the area.
His wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Amoge Aniemeka, was also celebrated during the event with the title Odunze Ugochinyere, acknowledging her complementary role in community service and social empowerment efforts.
The ceremony, chaired by Anderson Okeke, attracted dignitaries and community leaders, including Nelson Nduji, General Patron of JONAPWD, and traditional ruler Igwe Akanegbonkpa 1 Fidelis Akpa, who played a central role in presenting the honours.
Following the conferment, a colourful reception was held at Aniemeka’s family compound in Owelli Court, where community members gathered in celebration marked by cultural displays, solidarity, and festivity.
Stakeholders described the twin ceremonies as a testament to the Awgu Chapter of JONAPWD’s commitment to recognising individuals whose leadership and humanitarian efforts advance inclusion, dignity, and opportunities for persons with disabilities.
Observers say the honours not only celebrate personal achievement but also reinforce growing community awareness about disability inclusion and social responsibility in Awgu and beyond.
