Hon. Uche Okolo Welcomes Ndi Awgu to September with Renewed Commitment to Inclusive Growth and People-Centered Development

Awgu, Enugu State – As the new month of September ushers in the symbolic “ember months,” the Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uche Okolo, has extended heartfelt greetings to Ndi Awgu, praying for God’s blessings, peace, and prosperity for all residents.

 

In his message, released through his Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity, Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, the Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to people-centered governance and its commitment to complementing the developmental strides of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Governor of Enugu State.

 

“Each new month is a renewed call to purpose, and September reminds us of the power of unity, progress, and shared responsibility. I reaffirm my sincere commitment to building a more prosperous, inclusive, and peaceful Awgu, aligning fully with Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s grassroots inclusive vision,” Hon. Okolo declared.

 

Driving Development Through Landmark Projects

 

Hon. Okolo highlighted several transformative projects currently impacting lives and shaping the future of Awgu Local Government Area:

• One Ward, One Kilometer Road Project – Construction of durable access roads across all 11 wards, including roads leading to all Awgu Smart Green Schools, improving connectivity and accessibility.

• “Awgu Water for All” Initiative – Delivery of solar-powered boreholes to underserved and hard-to-reach communities, ensuring clean and safe drinking water for every household.

• Solar Street Light Project – Illuminating rural communities to improve security, encourage evening economic activities, and enhance social life.

• Campaign to End Open Defecation by 2025 – Distribution of over 2,000 Sato pan toilets and training of local artisans on smart sanitation technologies, fostering healthier and cleaner communities.

• Awgu Smart Farm Project – Empowering youth and women with modern agricultural techniques to enhance food security, create jobs, and drive sustainable livelihoods.

 

Partnership with Governor Mbah’s Vision

 

Hon. Okolo emphasized that his administration’s policies and projects are strategically aligned with Governor Peter Mbah’s grassroots inclusive vision. By complementing the Governor’s transformational agenda in education, infrastructure, agriculture, and technology, Awgu LGA is positioning itself as a key player in Enugu State’s socio-economic growth and development.

 

Call for Unity, Peace, and Shared Responsibility

 

Beyond infrastructure, the Chairman called on Ndi Awgu to embrace brotherhood, peace, and collective vigilance, stressing that security and development require partnership between government and the people.

 

“Let us march into September with renewed hope, determination, and unity of purpose,” Hon. Okolo affirmed. “Together, we will build the Awgu of our dreams – a community of dignity, shared prosperity, and lasting peace.”

 

Concluding his message, the Chairman offered prayers for Awgu Local Government Area, Enugu State, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, wishing all residents a peaceful, productive, and fulfilling new month.
