Gunmen shoot Cross River radio presenter dead

A  radio presenter, identified as Itiat Zion, has lost his life after gunmen reportedly shot him around a hotel on the Muritala Muhammed Road, in Calabar, Cross River State.

UGAMATV gathered that the victim was waiting by the roadside to get a vehicle back home on Saturday when the gunmen appeared in a vehicle and shot him at the bus stop.

The assailants reportedly zoomed off after perpetrating the crime, abandoning the victim, who died from the gunshot injuries.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo, who confirmed the incident, said the command had commenced an investigation into the case.

The PPRO said, “We got the news; we learnt that it was a case of mistaken identity. However, we don’t believe it and we have commenced investigation into the matter.”

Ugbo said although no arrest had been made, the police would get to the root of the case.
