Gunmen kidnap Abuja prince, kill one

Some armed men have kidnapped the son of the traditional ruler of Gwombe community in the Kuje area council of the Federal Capital Territory, Danjuma Jangaba.

The prince identified as Junaidu, it was gathered, was returning from a neighbouring community when he was waylaid by the armed men who had mounted a barricade at the area.

It was further gathered that sighting the armed men, the rider of the motorcycle he was on tried to escape but was shot dead.

A resident of the area, who pleaded anonymity, said the incident has led to panic in the area.

He said, “We learnt that the prince was returning from a neighbouring community on a motorcycle on Wednesday evening when the gunmen accosted him. They (gunmen) mounted a roadblock at the Gwargwada-Gwombe road.

“The bikeman immediately turned hoping to escape from them but he was shot dead on the spot. They took him away. They are yet to make contact with his family. The incident has caused some level of apprehension in the area.”

When contacted the spokesperson for the FCT police command, DSP Adeh Josephine, said she has not been briefed on the matter.
