‘Govt must protect students, teachers from COVID-19’

An organisation, Skool Media Nigeria Limited, has said the government and school owners must protect students and teachers from the coronavirus.

The firm’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr Sola Oluwadare, stated this on Sunday in a statement marking the International Day of Education.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation sets aside January 25 of every year as the International Day of Education.

Oluwadare said, “As the world marks the 2021 International Day of Education amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become germane for handlers of education to put in place necessary measures to protect the students and teachers as they resume academic activities in Nigeria.

“We believe that the education sector, which serves as the anchor of future generations, must be safeguarded in order to raise leaders that will usher Nigeria to its desired destination. Though most African countries are not as hit as Europe and Asia by the pandemic, they still need to do more so as not to risk the lives of children and teachers.”
