Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has dismissed circulating social media rumours concerning the health of his wife, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, describing them as false, misleading, and entirely unfounded.
The governor addressed the issue on Friday during the July edition of the “Evening of Praise and Worship” held at the Lady Jibowu Hall in Ado-Ekiti.
Clarifying the situation, Governor Oyebanji stated that the First Lady had been briefly absent due to an academic leave from the University of Ibadan, where she is a senior lecturer, and not for any health-related reasons.
“There is nothing wrong with my wife’s health. She was only on leave and has now resumed her duties at the university,” the governor affirmed.
Governor Oyebanji also took the opportunity to thank the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ekiti State chapter, Rev. Emmanuel Aribasoye, for delivering what he described as a spiritually uplifting and encouraging sermon.
“I have learnt not to be distracted by rumours or negative comments,” he said. “God is the one working in Ekiti, and all we are witnessing in the state is by His grace.”
He urged Ekiti residents to remain steadfast in faith, resist discouragement, and trust in God’s continued guidance and provision for the state.
In his sermon titled “The Perfecter”, Rev. Aribasoye encouraged believers to focus on spiritual growth and purpose, rather than be swayed by worldly distractions.
The governor’s reassuring message was warmly received by attendees, who expressed renewed confidence in his leadership and the administration’s ongoing commitment to the peace, progress, and development of Ekiti State.
