The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Enugu State on Media, Mr. Uche Anichukwu, has been honoured by the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Nomeh, for his exceptional contributions to community development and service to the church.
Anichukwu received the award during a special Award Service held on Sunday, where ECWA also recognised other community leaders — Elder Joseph Orji (Joebest), Elder Sunday Orji, Elder Nkemdirim Orji, and Pastor Chinedu Onovo — for their sustained impact on Nomeh Unataeze in Nkanu East LGA.
Presenting the awards, the ECWA Bishop and Chairman of the Enugu District Church Council, Rev. Chinedu Okechukwu, said the honour was based on demonstrable service, commitment to the gospel, and verifiable contributions to the progress of the community.
“This award ceremony has both physical and spiritual meanings,” Rev. Okechukwu noted. “Physically, it is our way of appreciating those who have made outstanding contributions to Nomeh and to the church of Jesus Christ. Spiritually, it is a reminder that a day of reward awaits everyone, just as reflected in our Bible reading today.”
The resident minister of ECWA Nomeh, Pastor Friday Onole, also praised the awardees, urging them to continue prioritising their community and the growth of the church. He described their service as exemplary and worthy of emulation.
In his acceptance speech, Anichukwu expressed deep gratitude to the church, dedicating the honour to his late parents — Rabbi Gabriel Anichukwu and Senior Mother-in-Israel Josephine Anichukwu — whom he described as his earliest mentors in community service. He also appreciated his family for their support.
He further paid glowing tribute to Governor Peter Mbah, highlighting the governor’s ongoing infrastructural interventions in Nomeh, including the Nomeh-Mburubu-Nara Road, the Nomeh-Oduma Road, a Smart Green School, and a Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centre.
“I dedicate this award to the performing governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah,” he said. “He has turned not just Nomeh but the entire Enugu State into a vast construction site through his inclusive development model.”
Anichukwu also acknowledged former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, whose earlier intervention brought the Nenwe-Nomeh-Mburubu-Nara Road project to life — a project he said transformed travel to Nomeh from “thorough agony” to ease.
He added: “ECWA has encouraged us to do more for our communities. As we celebrate today, I urge Ndi Enugu to continue to pray for our dear governor and support him as he translates his far-reaching vision for the state into reality.”
The award ceremony drew members of the community, church leaders, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate indigenes whose service continues to uplift Nomeh.
