Preliminary investigations revealed that a welding gas cylinder exploded while a welder was working on metal, likely due to exposure to excessive heat.

The deceased has been deposited in a morgue, while the injured victims are currently receiving medical treatment.

Expressing his concern, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, called for regular inspection and proper maintenance of gas-related equipment. He emphasized that gas cylinders must be stored securely and used strictly in accordance with manufacturers’ guidelines and safety protocols to prevent such tragedies in the future.
