The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to completing Section Three of the 61-kilometre Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway in Enugu State within schedule.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the pledge on Thursday while leading a high-powered federal delegation to inspect the project as part of a wider Citizens’ Engagement tour of the South East.
Idris stressed that modern road infrastructure is crucial for economic growth, improved safety, and the overall welfare of citizens.
“This project is a visible testament to government’s resolve to complete strategic highways nationwide for the benefit of Nigerians,” the minister said.
The project, handled by CGC Nigeria Limited, involves the construction of a dual carriageway totalling 122 kilometres, valued at ₦100.8 billion. According to the Director of Highways, Southeast, Engineer Tony Mbiko, the Enugu-bound section has been completed, while work is ongoing on the remaining stretch.
