Family and community stage protest over alleged murder of SS2 student in Ebonyi

The people of Okposi- Ukwu community in the Ohaozara Local government Area of Ebonyi State on Sunday, September 21, 2025, staged a peaceful protest over the death of Ebuka Chukwu, a Senior Secondary School (SSS 11) student of Federal Government College, Okposi.

 

 

 

The protesters, carrying placards with various inscriptions like “Who k!lled Ebuka?”, “Evil people are running FGC Okposi,” and “IGP, stop the k!lling and bring justice,” demanded answers and government’s intervention.

 

 

 

 

Speaking on behalf of the community, Mr. Collins Agwu, expressed sadness and outrage, over the k!lling and called for an urgent autopsy to be conducted to ascertain the actual cause of Ebuka Chukwu’s d3ath.

 

 

 

Agwu, alleged that the deceased student was k!lled before being thrown into a river to cover up his m8rder.

 

 

 

 

He questioned why a staff of the college, Mr. Danjuma, allegedly directed Ebuka and other students to confront hoodlums.

 

 

 

 

“We want justice to prevail, and those behind Ebuka’s death to be unmasked. The school management is playing politics with this incident.”

 

 

 

Chiadikaobi Obasi, a native of the community, lamented the alleged maltreatment of indigenous students and staff by the school management, warning that the peaceful Okposi Okwu should not be pushed to the wall.

 

 

 

The Vice Principal of the college, Mr. Ojima Emmanuel, expressed shock over the d3ath and assured the protesters that the school would cooperate to uncover the circumstances surrounding Ebuka’s demise.

 

 

 

The spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Joshua Ukandu, who confirmed the incident stated that the matter is under investigation, with three persons arrested in connection to the case.

 

 

 

 

According to sources, the incident occurred on July 27th, 2025, when Mr. Danjuma allegedly sent students, including Ebuka, to confront hoodlums, leading to his death.
