The burial rites commenced with a Requiem Mass at St. Bridget Catholic Church, Ngene Ugbo, where family members, friends and well-wishers gathered to honour her memory. Thereafter, her remains were committed to the earth at her husband’s compound, followed by a reception and condolence visits by sympathisers from within and outside the state.

Late Denta Veronica Aneke was remembered by her family and loved ones as a woman of exceptional resilience, compassion and unwavering faith. Born into a humble background, she was said to have embraced the virtues of hard work, discipline and sacrifice from an early age—values she upheld throughout her lifetime.

A devoted born-again Christian, the deceased was described as someone who lived her faith in practical terms, touching lives through love, service and steadfast devotion to God.

Speaking with UGAMATV during the funeral ceremony, her second son, Apostle Peter Aneke, described his late mother as a selfless and sacrificial woman who gave her all to ensure the moral and spiritual upbringing of her children. He noted that while her passing has left a deep void, the family takes solace in the belief that she has gone to be with the Lord.

Also speaking, the first son, Mr. Ejike Aneke, eulogised his mother as a peaceful and virtuous woman whose life is worthy of emulation. He expressed profound gratitude to guests and sympathisers who travelled from far and near to honour their mother, while praying for journey mercies as they returned to their respective destinations.

In an emotional tribute, the only daughter of the deceased, Mrs. Ngozi Blessing Ude (née Aneke), reflected on the deep bond she shared with her mother, describing her as a pillar of love and strength. She prayed for the peaceful repose of her mother’s soul.

Other relatives, including Miss Precious Aneke, the second granddaughter, Mrs. Cecilia Ogbonneya Udejiofor, and Engr. Azubike Simon, also paid glowing tributes, recounting fond memories and the enduring impact of her life.

Adding colour to the ceremony, members of the Community Secondary School Ugbo (CSS) Class of 1997, led by Mr. Emmanuel Uchenna Okolie, stood in solidarity with their classmate, Mr. Peter Aneke. On behalf of the group, condolences were extended to the bereaved family, alongside prayers for the eternal rest of the deceased.

The funeral was attended by notable dignitaries, including His Royal Majesty, Igwe (WDR) Jerome Amechi Okeke, Ngene I of Ngene Ugbo, as well as community leaders and well-wishers who came to pay their last respects.

Late Denta Veronica Nnennaya Aneke, who passed on September 24, 2025, is survived by four children, fifteen grandchildren, in-laws and other relatives.
