Born on August 23, 1962, at the General Hospital, Gombe, the late Onuigbo received his primary education at Central School, Ihe, and proceeded to Comprehensive Secondary School, Onitsha, Anambra State. He obtained his tertiary education at the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi. He was the elder brother of renowned business mogul, High Chief Anthony Onuigbo of Equitonibricks Group .

A seasoned professional surveyor, the deceased made remarkable contributions to national development through his involvement in several landmark infrastructural projects across the country, including the Jebei Dam Project, the Kaduna–Abuja Road with Sakamori, the Ikom–Calabar Road with Alfro Construction Company, seismic operations with Siapen, and numerous road construction projects nationwide.

Speaking in an interview with UGAMA TV, his son, Paschal Chukwudi Onuigbo, described his late father as a man of unwavering values, kindness, and selflessness, who consistently placed the needs of others above his own.

“He lived an exemplary life. We are determined as a family to continue from where he stopped and uphold the values he stood for,” Paschal stated.

His daughter, Onuigbo Mmesoma Ruth, also paid glowing tribute, describing her father as a peaceful, generous, and thoughtful man who provided for his family and taught her how to face life’s challenges with wisdom and calmness.

“I miss him so much, and I sincerely thank everyone who has come to sympathise with us during this difficult time,” she said emotionally.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Catholic Men Organization (CMO), St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Idaw River, Enugu, Sir Dr. Dons Eze, in an exclusive interview with UGAMA TV, described the late Surveyor Onuigbo as kind-hearted, peace-loving, and exceptionally humane.

According to him, the deceased was among the pioneering members of the parish and played a significant role in stabilising the church after its elevation to a full parish. He added that even his tenants could testify to his accommodating nature and absence of malice.

Sir Dr. Eze offered prayers for God’s mercy upon the soul of the departed and extended heartfelt condolences to his wife, Mrs. Roseline Onuigbo, Chairlady of the Catholic Women Organization (CWO), and their children.

Late Surveyor Onuigbo was a devoted husband, a loving father of six — four sons and two daughters — and a committed member of both the church and his community.
