Dr. Paul Botwev Orhii, former Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Orhii, who had previously contested for the Benue State governorship ticket under the PDP in both the 2019 and 2023 elections, announced his resignation in a letter dated July 28, 2025. The letter was addressed to the PDP chairman in Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue State.
In the letter, which was made available to the media, Orhii explained that his decision came after “intensive consultations with my family, friends, and thousands of political associates locally, nationally, and globally.”
His departure adds to the growing list of high-profile politicians who have recently left the PDP, a party that once held significant dominance in Nigerian politics.
Orhii is expected to formally join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where several of his political allies have already aligned themselves amid ongoing political realignments in Benue State.
