In a powerful endorsement of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Enugu State Liaison Officer to the South East Development Commission (SEDC), Hon. Edeani M. Edeani, has applauded the move as a “strategic realignment for progress” and a decisive step toward unlocking Enugu’s full developmental potential.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the official defection ceremony, Hon. Edeani described Governor Mbah’s decision as an act of visionary leadership—one driven not by partisanship, but by the need to position Enugu State at the heart of Nigeria’s political and economic engine.
“In a political landscape often shaped by narrow loyalties, it takes courage and vision to make decisions that prioritize the long-term development of one’s people,” Hon. Edeani stated. “Governor Mbah has done exactly that by aligning Enugu with the federal center for the benefit of Ndi Enugu.”
According to him, the Governor’s alignment with the ruling party is a pragmatic and forward-thinking decision that will bridge the historical gap between the Southeast and the national power structure. He emphasized that the move will open Enugu to new opportunities in infrastructure, investment, and federal engagement.
“For too long, the Southeast has remained politically distant from the center, a disconnection that has cost us influence and slowed development,” Edeani said. “Dr. Mbah’s defection is a masterstroke that repositions Enugu as a key player in Nigeria’s collective progress.”
Hon. Edeani further noted that with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emphasizing economic revitalization and inclusive governance, Enugu now stands to benefit directly from federal projects and partnerships. He highlighted sectors such as road networks, rail expansion, agriculture, and youth empowerment as areas likely to receive renewed attention and funding.
He also commended Governor Mbah’s record of effective governance—particularly in areas of industrialization, water infrastructure, and digital transformation—saying these initiatives will now gain federal synergy and greater scalability.
“Governor Mbah’s leadership is guided by results and innovation,” he remarked. “His partnership with the federal government will accelerate Enugu’s modernization and prosperity.”
Hon. Edeani concluded by calling on Ndi Enugu to unite behind their governor and support his developmental vision, stressing that political realignment should be seen not as betrayal, but as “the courage to follow vision when old paths can no longer deliver progress.”
“Governor Mbah has made history and opened a new chapter of hope and inclusion for Enugu,” he said. “The future is brighter—and Enugu is ready.”
