Enugu West Unity Forum Inaugurates Aninri Chapter Executives, Mobilises Grassroots for Gov. Mbah’s Re-Election Bid

The Enugu West Unity Forum (EWUF) has inaugurated its Aninri chapter executives as part of ongoing efforts to consolidate grassroots mobilisation for the re-election of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah in 2027.

The inauguration, held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Ndeabor, headquarters of Aninri Local Government, followed similar exercises in Oji-River, Awgu, Udi, and Ezeagu Local Government Areas. EWUF, a non-partisan platform, was established primarily to galvanize support for Governor Mbah’s return to the Lion Building in 2027 and to position Enugu West for the governorship slot in 2031.

Performing the inauguration, EWUF President, Arc. Jake Udeh, charged the newly sworn-in officers to take the campaign to their wards and communities by mobilizing residents for voter registration and acquisition of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

“All our efforts to support Governor Peter Mbah will only count if our people are armed with their voter cards. Other zones are already mobilising massively, and Enugu West cannot be left behind. For us, 2027 is a top priority, and beyond that, 2031 belongs to Enugu West,” Udeh said, stressing that “there will be no vacancy in the Lion Building come 2027.”

Speaking in the same vein, the Forum’s Contact and Mobilisation Chairman, Hon. Okechukwu Eneokwe, urged the new officers to remain proactive and diligent. “You are the bedrock of this movement. Go back home and mobilize your people for registration, so we are not caught napping on election day,” he charged.

EWUF Secretary-General, Nze Theo Deacon Onyebueke, described the appointments as a call to service, urging the officers to redouble their commitment. “No right-thinking person should take this lightly, because Enugu West has a date with history in 2031 after Governor Mbah’s tenure,” he declared.

In his goodwill message, Hon. Magnus Edeh, member representing Aninri Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, praised the Governor’s development strides and assured that Aninri would benefit greatly from his re-election. He highlighted Mbah’s commitment to delivering 10 kilometres of roads in each ward and installing solar streetlights as projects that would transform local communities.

Chairman of Aninri LGA, Hon. Ugochukwu Nwanjoku, represented by former Vice Chairman Hon. Okechukwu Bamidele, pledged continued support for EWUF, citing Mbah’s investments in Green Smart Schools, healthcare facilities, and other infrastructures as evidence of his people-oriented governance.

Traditional ruler, His Highness, Igwe Godwin Onuoha, extolled Governor Mbah as a benefactor whose leadership deserves unwavering support.

On his part, EWUF Vice President, Prince Afam Agama, underscored the importance of decentralising voter registration to encourage wider participation, insisting that Mbah’s re-election in 2027 is already a “fait accompli.”

Other speakers, including Hon. Magnus Okoloma, emphasised that continuity under Governor Mbah was non-negotiable, while Aninri Coordinator of EWUF, Comrade Kama Godwin Ejikeme, hailed the Governor’s numerous developmental projects as a compelling reason to sustain his mandate beyond 2027.

The inauguration ended with renewed pledges from stakeholders and grassroots officers to intensify mobilisation, with the resounding message that Governor Mbah’s re-election is both a necessity and a pathway for Enugu West to clinch the governorship in 2031.
