The good people of Obeagu in Awgu Local Government Area, Enugu state, Nigeria have given kudos to the leadership style of Governor Ugwuanyi, as well as his achievements and Openness in Governance.

They made this known during the last ward meeting of the peoples democratic party (PDP) Obeagu Ward on the 18th of December in which they gave insights on why the community is happy with Governor Ugwuanyi, as well as the position of their community in the forthcoming 2022 Local Government election in Enugu state.

The meeting which was presided over by party chairman of Obeagu Ward, Austin Uzodinma was attended by Some Obeagu dignitaries, including Auditor Pdp Awgu LGA and CEO UGAMATV, Tochukwu Chukwu, Managing Director / CEO Everwinners Nig. ltd, Chief Ume Shedrack Agafenachukwu, former Executive Assistant to the Enugu state Governor, Hon. Okeke Anderson Obiorah (Okenwa), stakeholder Obeagu Ward, Chukwu Brown as well as former SPA Awgu LGA, Ifeanyi Uzodimma and Rt Hon Jc Ikemefuna former house of Rep member.

Speaking to UGAMATV, the former president, Obeagu Town Union, Sir Godwin Ifesinachi Egungwu at the Secretariat of PDP in Obeagu said their people can not ignore to appreciate the achievements of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in the areas of workers’ welfare, rural development and enthronement of peace in the entire state.

Emphasizing on the welfare of workers in Enugu state from 1999 till date, Egungwu said “there was never a moment state workers as well as pensioners enjoyed transparently structured and upgraded salaries, timely payment of their wages and pension in Enugu state as it is with the administration of governor Ugwuanyi.

Reviewing the stand of Obeagu People in the forthcoming 2022 local government election in Enugu state, drawing attention to the need for fairness, and equity in recruitment of leadership or Chairmen of Awgu Local Government Area since creation of the council, Egungwu stated that “Awgu Local Government Area has 11 political wards; 10 out of the eleven have produced the chairman of the council excluding Obeagu.

“With the spirit of oneness, equity and fairness; all the political parties that would participate in the local government election in 2022 should zone the position to Obeagu. Obeagu is 100%. PDP and has won all the elections since 1999 till date in the community.

He urged Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to recall the promise he made saying that Obeagu people will produce the Next Local Government Chairman in Awgu Local Government Area in 2022.

“From Time immemorial, Obeagu people have been neglected and unable to produce the local government chairman; but we are grateful that during the last local government election in Enugu state, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi promised our people that come 2022, an Obeagu man will be the next Local Government Chairman”.

“Who ever is picked from Obeagu to be the next Local Government Chairman, every other aspirant and entire community will support the person” he added.

“Let me tell you, Obeagu people are not alone in this struggle, some of the other political wards have begin to see the need to allow us to produce the Next Local Government Chairman”.

Describing Ugwuanyi as man of his words who insisted that the people of Obeagu held him in high esteem and thus will remain focused in the development of the entire Awgu Local Government Area and Enugu state at large.
