ELITE CLUB OF OBEAGU IGNITES HOPE: 11 BRILLIANT INDIGENOUS STUDENTS EMPOWERED IN HISTORIC BURSARY DRIVE

_From Vision to Impact: How Elite Day Became a Lifeline for Obeagu’s Future Leaders_

In a remarkable demonstration of vision, unity, and commitment to human capital development, the Elite Club of Obeagu has once again etched its name in gold with the successful implementation of its 2026 Bursary Empowerment Programme, benefitting eleven outstanding indigenous students.

The initiative was conceived during the club’s Annual General Meeting, popularly known as Elite Day, held on January 1, 2026—a yearly tradition that continues to shape the developmental trajectory of Obeagu community. Members unanimously resolved to launch a bursary scheme aimed at supporting academically outstanding students and encouraging excellence in education.

This intervention is not a one-off gesture but part of the club’s long-standing legacy of educational empowerment. In 2025, during the Elite Day celebration, the club paid the WAEC fees of all SSCE indigenous students of Community Secondary School, Obeagu, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to youth development.

*A Transparent and Merit-Based Selection Process*

Following a public announcement on indigenous WhatsApp platforms, interested students were invited to apply. A dedicated WhatsApp portal was created by the bursary committee, where applicants submitted their academic results. Fresh students admitted in 2025 applied using their JAMB results.

Out of thirty-six (36) students who expressed interest, twenty-three (23) complied fully with the submission guidelines. After a rigorous and merit-based evaluation, the committee selected candidates based on the best C.G.P.A scores and JAMB results—an approach designed to promote academic discipline, healthy competition, and excellence.

At the end of the process, nine students were selected based on C.G.P.A, while two emerged through outstanding JAMB performance.
