
A former Deputy president of the Senate, Sen Ike Ekweremadu as well as a former APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, have paid their last respects to late Mr. David Oji Mbah, a renowned patriarch in Nenwe, Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Mr. David Oji Mbah was born, a second child, in Enugu on May the 7th, 1935 to the late Mazi Felix Okoro Mbah and late Janet Avekwe Mbah of Ishienyi, Emudo, Nenwe in Aninri local government area of Enugu state.
After graduation from St. Brigid catholic school Asata, Enugu and on completion of his senior Cambridge certificate in December 1953, he secured an appointment with the department of post and telecommunications (later known as NITEL) in the federal ministry of communications in 1954. Therein, he took a six months course in Management studies, in University of Ibadan in 1973.
Late David became head of the division of publications, printing and processing, upon his return from a course on publication in London in 1976. He was subsequently promoted to Assistance chief traffic and commercial manager in 1986.
He however retired voluntarily from the civil service, then set up his own consultancy firm, Mannix enterprises, ltd. They rendered telecommunications services to Nigerian LNG and NETCO. By 1995, he retired from the company.
On September 26th 1964, he tied the knot with his heartthrob, Veronica Mbah at Holy ghost cathedral, Ogui Enugu. The marriage was greatly blessed with five Children and eleven grandchildren.
He however died at the age of 85 and was buried in his country home, on Friday 28th May 2021.
His burial drew family and friends including well wishers and Dignitaries to Nenwe.
Amongst them were A former Deputy president of the Senate, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu as well as a former APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

Mrs Veronica Mbah, wife of the deceased while lamenting the death of her husband of 57 years said, “they say that the hardest thing in the world is losing the one you love or losing someone you have grown with for over 57years, someone who has shown you the meaning of true love, i can not it, but the pains in my heart will not let me accept this loss, This is the worst thing that can ever happen to anyone.”

“In 57 years of holding my hands and being my husband, you have taught me how to love unconditionally, with tolerance and perseverance. I cannot thank you enough for the love that you showered on the on me, the kids and the whole family.”

“I miss you so very much, you were my rock, my protector, my best, truest and only real friend. you were my life. I cannot say goodbye, because i will carry you in my heart, everyday till my last breath. till we meet to part no more.”

Sen. Ike Ekweremadu in his Eulogies, said, “I received with a deep sense of loss the news of the passing of your dearly beloved Father. It is no doubt a huge loss, not only to you and the entire family but also to us: friends, associates and well-wishers.”

“Nonetheless, I urge you all to find solace in the fact that he led a healthy life of selfless service to her community and mankind at large, leaving behind, lasting goodwill and legacies that will forever etch his name in good. In all his achievements, his memory will be kept alive. There is no doubt that the pages of history will be coined to him.”


“On behalf of my family, I send my heartfelt condolences to you and your entire family. We share in your grief, however , we join in celebrating his fine soul. May God grant his gentle soul eternal repose.”
