EKWEREMADU LAUDS ENUGU REP DEPUTY MINORITY LEADER OKECHUKWU OVER EDUCATIONAL EMPOWERMENT

The three time former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has commended the Deputy minority leader and member representing Aniri, Awgu and Oji-river Federal Constituency, Hon. Toby Okechukwu for his immense love for students and his continuous empowerment for them through education.

He made this known during an interview with UGAMATV where he described Okechukwu’s philanthropy as his humanity, stating that he owed none of them but he took it upon himself to do such yearly due to his humanity.

Ekweremadu who was present at the event where Toby Okechukwu presented the cheques for the WAEC fees to all the public secondary schools in his constituency on the 10th of December explained that Okechukwu was not the only person in public service, but he has decided out of the abundance of his heart to and the godly nature in him to support his people so that they can receive education.

Thanking Okechukwu for his thoughtfulness he said “It’s possible some of them would not have paid the WAEC fees for this year and probably would have paid it next year but that will draw them back by one year. So he has given them the opportunity to make progress in their career.

“Maybe when they get to the next stage someone else will help them, but if they don’t cross this stage they won’t be able to get to the next stage. So I want to thank him for being this kind to our people.

“We are interested in your education and furthering and encouraging it, because the difference between us who are here today and our mates who didn’t have the opportunity for education is that we are more enlightened”, he said.

Speaking on how the students can repay him for his kind gesture, he said “I believe that our children will appreciate this gesture by being good citizens, read their book to pass so that as they advance they will remember this day, and then when they grow up and have the opportunity they can also do for others things like this”, he said concluding.
