A Former Deputy president of the Senate, Sen. Prof. Ike Ekweremadu had on Friday, sent warm eulogies to the family of late Mrs. Eunice Nwinya Anyim, the matriarch of the Anyim dynasty of Umuennem Ezinesi Oduma, Aninri Local Government Area, Enugu state.

Eunice Nwinya was born on 25 of December 1956 into the legendary christian family of late Kamanu Chime of Nanwu village, in Ezinesi Oduma, Aninri LGA of Enugu state.

She had her primary school education at Community School, Ezinesi Oduma in 1967. She was later married to late chief Samuel Anyim of Umuenem, Ezinesi Oduma.

The marriage was blessed with five children, however, before death, she had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In her days, she was a two-term PDP Woman Leader, subsequently, an executive member of Oduma Ward III. Indeed she was an active state’s woman, a brave and experienced mother, as well as a dauntless teacher. She was a great advocate of the truth.

Her magnanimity was a force to reckon with. She was known to be generous, not just with her resources but with her wit, smiles, wisdom and wealth. Mrs. Eunice was a devout christian, an active worshipper at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ezinesi Oduma. This had earned her the title of Ezinne nke Okwukwe in 2020.

Given the ephemeral nature of life, she passed on 3rd of March, 2020 at Federal Medical Centre Asaba, after fighting the good fight and continually keeping the faith. She was however, laid to rest on the 14th of May, 2021.

Senator Ekweremadu, who was in close acquaintance to the son of the deceased, High Chief Godwin Anyim (Onwa n’Ezinesi Oduma), wrote in commiserations, “ I received with a deep sense of loss the news of the passing of your dearly beloved mother. It is no doubt a huge loss, not only to you and the entire family but also to us: friends, associates and well-wishers.”

“Nonetheless, I urge you all to find solace in the fact that she led a wealthy life of selfless service to her community and mankind at large, leaving behind, lasting goodwill and legacies that will forever etch her name in good. In all her achievements, her memory will be kept alive. There is no doubt that the pages of history will be coined to her.”

“On behalf of my family, I send my heartfelt condolences to you and your entire family. We share in your grief, however , we join in celebrating her fine soul. May God grant her gentle soul eternal repose.”
