DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT FOR MSMEs: GOV. MBAH DEEPENS ENUGU’S TECH-DRIVEN ECONOMY

The Enugu State Government, under the visionary leadership of Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has intensified efforts to build a resilient, technology-driven economy with the empowerment of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) at the core of its development strategy.

In line with the administration’s commitment to innovation-led growth, the government, through the Enugu MSME & Startup Agency (Enugu SME Center), has partnered with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to roll out the Digital Skilling Mentorship Program for MSMEs (DSMP–MSME) across the state.

The programme is designed to equip MSMEs operating within Enugu State with essential digital competencies and structured mentorship required to thrive in an increasingly competitive and technology-driven business environment. It aligns with both Enugu State’s digital transformation agenda and Nigeria’s broader national digital economy priorities.

According to the Enugu SME Center, participating businesses will gain access to practical digital and technology-enabled business skills, tailored one-on-one and group mentorship from industry experts, improved online visibility, and expanded access to local and global markets. The initiative also provides MSMEs with the tools to integrate digital solutions into their operations, boosting productivity, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.

The DSMP–MSME further underscores Governor Mbah’s resolve to position MSMEs as critical drivers of job creation, innovation, and inclusive economic prosperity across all 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State. By strengthening the digital capacity of small businesses, the administration aims to unlock new opportunities, attract investment, and ensure that Enugu’s economy remains competitive in the digital age.

Interested MSMEs have been encouraged to seize the opportunity by registering for the programme via the Enugu SME Center’s official portal, as the state continues to roll out policies and partnerships that translate its digital vision into measurable economic impact.
