The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Kogi State, has expelled two students over alleged same-sex conduct and rusticated four others for one academic session for fighting on campus.

The disciplinary actions were announced in separate letters signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Eli Gbadafu, following recommendations by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee and approval by the university’s Senate at its 31st regular meeting.

According to the institution, the sanctions were imposed in line with the provisions of the amended 2025 Students’ Handbook.

The expelled students, Onumoko Hamza of the Biology Education Department and Abdulazeez Eneji of the Mining Engineering Department, were found guilty of violating the university’s regulations after an investigation by the disciplinary committee.

The four students rusticated for one academic session are Favor Akowe of the Microbiology Department, Simbiat Babamuharuna of the Biology Department, and Zainab Omayoza and Sukura Bukola, both of the Biochemistry Department. They were sanctioned for their involvement in a fight on campus.

The university said the disciplinary measures are aimed at maintaining order, discipline and a conducive environment for teaching and learning, urging students to abide by the institution’s rules and regulations.
