Controversy as Verydarkman Criticizes President Tinubu, Says Nigerians Wished He Died Instead of Buhari

Popular social media activist Vincent Otse Martins, widely known as Verydarkman, has stirred national controversy following comments he made about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the wake of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s death.

 

In a video shared on his Instagram page, Verydarkman alleged that many Nigerians expressed wishes that President Tinubu had died instead of Buhari. He used the moment to launch a sharp critique of the current administration, describing Tinubu’s leadership as more difficult for Nigerians than that of his predecessor.

 

According to the activist, while Buhari’s era brought economic hardship, Tinubu’s policies, particularly the removal of fuel subsidies, have plunged the country into even greater distress without tangible benefits for the masses.

 

“The removal of the fuel subsidy was said to redirect funds for development, but Nigerians are still suffering, and the government continues to borrow. Fuel prices have skyrocketed despite Nigeria being an oil-producing nation,” he said.

 

Verydarkman also highlighted how the public image of Tinubu’s presidency has become so toxic that any celebrity photographed with the president faces immediate backlash and online abuse.

 

He criticized the reported increase in minimum wage, calling it a “lie,” and alleged that several offices have not implemented the pay raise. He also decried the rising insecurity across the country and suggested that many of the president’s supporters are motivated by money, ethnicity, or religion.

 

“Nigerians are tired. People are struggling to eat, to move, to survive. Yet the government offers no relief,” he added.

 

Verydarkman’s remarks have reignited public discourse on the state of the nation under President Tinubu’s leadership. While his comments have drawn support from some frustrated Nigerians, they have also sparked criticism from others who deem them disrespectful and inflammatory. The video continues to trend online, reflecting deep divisions in public sentiment over the country’s leadership and direction.
