The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr Segun Dawodu, has called for the engagement of the youth in formal political processes.

In a statement on Monday, he said youth involvement in politics would increase the fairness of political processes.
Dawodu, according to the statement, spoke at an event organised by his ministry to mark the Year 2020 International Youth Day Celebration at the Youth Centre in Ikeja, Lagos.
He said youths “have the potential of contributing to better and more sustainable policies as well as restoring trust in public institutions.”
The commissioner revealed that the United Nations Population Fund collaborated with the state government to give representatives of youth bodies a platform to dialogue on issues of interest and empowerment.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Mrs Yewande Falugba, said the government had decided to focus more on issues affecting the youth because they constituted the greatest asset of the nation.
