The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has approved the appointment of Hon. Justice Babatunde Adeniran Adejumo as the new Administrator of the National Judicial Institute (NJI). His appointment takes effect from August 1, 2025.
Justice Adejumo, a former President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, succeeds Justice Salisu Garba Abdullahi, whose tenure will end on July 31, 2025, after four years of dedicated and impactful service.
The appointment, made in accordance with the provisions of the National Judicial Institute Act, follows the endorsement of Justice Adejumo by the Board of Governors of the NJI, which is chaired by the CJN.
In a statement released by Mr. Tobi Soniyi, Senior Special Assistant (Media) to the CJN, Justice Kekere-Ekun expressed deep appreciation to the outgoing Administrator for his tireless commitment and invaluable contributions to the growth and advancement of the Institute and the Nigerian judiciary at large.
Describing Justice Adejumo as a seasoned jurist and administrator, the statement noted that his vast experience in judicial administration is expected to significantly enhance the NJI’s mandate of promoting judicial capacity development and institutional innovation.
The National Judicial Institute is the apex body responsible for the continuing education, training, and development of judicial officers and their supporting staff across all tiers of the judiciary. It is committed to promoting efficiency, uniformity, and the improvement of judicial services nationwide through tailored courses, workshops, conferences, and academic programmes aligned with international best practices.
