Popular celebrity auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, widely known as IVD, has reportedly been arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while attempting to travel out of the country ahead of his wedding to social media influencer, Blessing CEO, scheduled to hold in Qatar.
According to reports by investigative journalist Stella Dimoko Korkus and further confirmed by UGAMA TV, IVD’s arrest is linked to the ongoing domestic violence case involving his late wife, Bimbo. The matter is still before the court, and IVD is said to be under a legal restriction preventing him from leaving Nigeria until the case is resolved. He is expected to remain in custody until Monday, August 4, 2025, when he will appear in court.
Blessing CEO, who has been engaged to IVD for several months, took to social media shortly after the incident, referring to herself as a “bride-to-be” and expressing excitement over the upcoming wedding. While she did not address the arrest directly, her comments have sparked widespread speculation about the future of their relationship and whether the planned wedding will still go ahead.
The situation has generated public debate, especially concerning the intersection between personal controversies and public personas, particularly among Nigerian celebrities. The arrest has also reignited conversations about domestic violence and how such cases are handled within Nigeria’s legal system.
Although specific details of the case remain confidential, IVD’s high-profile status has drawn renewed attention to the plight of domestic violence victims and the slow pace of legal justice. Advocacy groups are calling for increased transparency and stronger institutional support for survivors, urging the courts to treat such cases with urgency and fairness.
In the entertainment industry, reactions have been mixed. While some public figures have voiced concern for the affected families, others are questioning the responsibilities of celebrities when it comes to influencing public discourse and behavior, especially on issues like gender-based violence.
As legal proceedings continue, the public remains closely engaged, awaiting further developments. The outcome could set important precedents for how domestic violence cases involving public figures are handled in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Blessing CEO has continued to share wedding-related updates with her followers, appearing unfazed by the legal controversy surrounding her fiancé. Her upbeat tone and determination to proceed with the celebration have drawn both admiration and criticism online, reflecting the complex pressures faced by individuals in the spotlight as they navigate personal trials under public scrutiny.
