The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has extended warm felicitations to mothers across Awgu and beyond in celebration of Mother’s Day, describing them as indispensable architects of society and enduring symbols of strength and compassion.
In a goodwill message conveyed through his Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity, Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, the council chairman paid glowing tribute to mothers, whom he characterized as “the pillars of the human race and a blessing to the world.” He emphasized that their sacrifices, resilience, and nurturing spirit remain fundamental to community development and societal stability.
Hon. Okolo reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to advancing the welfare of women in Awgu, assuring that policies and initiatives designed to empower and include women in governance would continue to receive priority attention. According to him, meaningful development at the grassroots level cannot be achieved without deliberate investment in the growth and participation of women.
The chairman further commended the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his visionary leadership and steadfast dedication to women’s empowerment. He noted that the governor’s inclusive governance style, which promotes strong female representation in policy formulation and decision-making, has set a commendable standard for sustainable development across the state.
Hon. Okolo pledged that the Awgu Local Government Council would continue to align with and complement the state government’s efforts by implementing impactful programs aimed at uplifting women and strengthening their roles in community advancement.
He concluded his message with heartfelt prayers for all mothers, wishing them good health, prosperity, and enduring blessings. He reiterated that the love, guidance, and sacrifices of mothers remain the bedrock upon which a better and more prosperous society is built.
