Buhari mourns popular dramatist, Jimoh Aliu

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Tuesday, mourned an actor, Jimoh Aliu, who died at the age of 80.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, titled “President Buhari mourns popular dramatist, Jimoh Aliu,” Buhari said the deceased would be missed by al lovers of good drama.

The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari condoles with the theatre and entertainment industry, the Aliu family, and Ekiti State government on the loss of popular dramatist, Chief Jimoh Aliu, aged 80.

“The President salutes the dedication of the deceased to his art, which saw him forming the Jimoh Aliu Concert Party In 1966, remaining committed to drama and entertainment for over 50 years.

“President Buhari says the man popularly called Aworo, will be missed by all lovers of good drama, and commends his skills as a well-rounded artist, having been a sculptor, film writer, playwright, actor, and director, rolled into one.

“He prays that the soul of the renowned thespian would rest in peace and that God will comfort all those who mourn him.”

Nollywood actress and producer, Laide Bakare has announced that she would soon be getting married for the third time. In a recent interview with content creator, Akin Abolade, the movie star stated it would be the first time she would be getting married “officially” despite two previous failed marriages. “I will soon be getting married officially for the first time ever,” she said. The actress disclosed that preparations are already underway for her wedding. She, however, did not disclose the date of the wedding or the identity of her husband-to-be. Laide Bakare has been married twice. Her first marriage was to US-based businessman Olumide Okufulure, with whom she shares a daughter, Simi. After their separation, she remarried Alhaji Mutairu Atanda Orilowo in 2012, and the union produced two sons. However, she left her second marriage after Orilowo was reportedly declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2014 over alleged fraudulent activities. In a previous interview on the Real Life With Aunty Ayo podcast, Laide Bakare said she is open to being married up to five times if prior unions don’t work.
