The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. He extended his congratulations to the Muslim Ummah both in Nigeria and across the diaspora on the occasion of the Islamic festival.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged Muslims to continue to embody the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, and faith as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon him). He also called on Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for a peaceful and prosperous nation.
In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to citizen-focused reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He stated that the ongoing efforts are aimed at steering Nigeria back onto the path of progress and national rebirth.
While wishing all Muslims a joyful and fulfilling Eid-ul-Adha, the Minister appealed to all Nigerians to support the current administration’s drive to restore Nigeria’s greatness.
