The Benue State House of Assembly has suspended four of its members for three months over allegations of plotting to instigate the impeachment of Speaker Hyacinth Dajoh.
The suspension, announced during Friday’s plenary, affected Alfred Berger (Makurdi North), who also served as the Assembly’s spokesman, Cyril Ekong (Oju 2), Abu Umoru (Apa), and Shimawua Terna (Kyan).
Following the development, the House immediately reshuffled its leadership. Kennedy Angbo was named Deputy Majority Leader, Douglas Akya was appointed Deputy Chief Whip, while Elias Audu replaced Berger as spokesman.
Meanwhile, the Assembly commenced the screening of commissioner-nominees. Three nominees were screened on Friday, while two others Ogwu Odeh and Imojime Tiza, are expected to appear later.
