Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State witnessed a dramatic show of political solidarity on Saturday, February 12, 2026, as stakeholders and party faithful of the All Progressives Congress (APC) unanimously endorsed Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as the sole candidate for the 2027 Enugu State gubernatorial election.

The endorsement, made public in a viral video recorded at the APC Secretariat in Awgu, followed a peaceful, well-attended, and decisive congress that observers have described as a defining moment for the party in the area. The gathering brought together ward executives, community leaders, party elders, and supporters who collectively reaffirmed their loyalty and unwavering support for the governor.

In a bold and unmistakable political declaration, stakeholders resolved that Governor Mbah must complete both his first and second terms in office, citing confidence in his leadership style and developmental strides across the state.

The congress was attended by the Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo; the Enugu State APC Chairman, Dr. Martins Chukwunwike; and several respected political figures and community leaders.

Moving the motion for endorsement, former PDP National Secretary and former Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. S.K.E. Udeokoye, spoke with clarity and conviction, articulating what he described as the collective will of the Awgu people.

“Awgu stand remains firm and clear — Peter Mbah will complete his first tenure and also his second tenure. That is the collective decision of Awgu people.”

He stressed that the endorsement was not merely symbolic but a clear political direction anchored on trust in the governor’s vision and performance.

The motion was formally supported by former two-time member of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nelson Uduji, and seconded by the member representing Awgu South Constituency in the State Assembly, Hon. Okwudili Nwankwo. Their swift endorsement of the motion without further debate underscored the overwhelming consensus within the congress.

The resolution was subsequently adopted through a thunderous voice vote, with chants of solidarity echoing across the venue as members pledged renewed commitment to the party and the governor’s leadership.

Speaking after the adoption of the motion, Hon. Okolo described Governor Mbah as “God-sent” to the people of Enugu State, noting that leaders of his calibre are rare. He highlighted the governor’s achievements within just three years in office, stating that his performance justifies the groundswell of support.

According to him, Awgu people have made their choice and remain resolute in ensuring that Governor Mbah receives total support ahead of the 2027 election.

Stakeholders characterized the February 12 congress as a turning point for the APC in Awgu LGA — one that demonstrated unity, internal cohesion, and a shared resolve to strengthen the party’s structure while sustaining the governor’s leadership.
