Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged President Bola Tinubu to address his alleged rift with Vice President Kashim Shettima and fix Nigeria’s struggling economy before interfering in the affairs of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Atiku’s statement, signed by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, came in response to President Tinubu’s comments during the 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held on Thursday.
He accused Tinubu of prioritizing his 2027 re-election bid over fulfilling his leadership duties and addressing the worsening conditions of Nigerians.
“President Tinubu should first resolve the visible rift between himself and Vice President Kashim Shettima and fix Nigeria’s broken economy before meddling in the affairs of the ADC,” Atiku said.
He further alleged that the presidency is wasting scarce public funds to fuel internal divisions and weaken opposition coalitions.
Atiku also addressed recent tensions among opposition supporters, blaming the presidency for instigating discord within the Coalition involving his supporters and those of Peter Obi.
“The cracks have been mended, and the Coalition is now stronger than ever,” he stated.
