Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday, July 2, hosted Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, at his Abuja residence—further fueling speculation of a possible opposition alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting comes just a day after the Coalition for a Better Nigeria officially adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform. The coalition is working to unite major opposition figures and parties to present a formidable front against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Peter Obi, who previously served as governor of Anambra State, has publicly backed the coalition, expressing his commitment to collaborative strategies aimed at fostering national development.
The closed-door meeting between Atiku and Obi is being widely interpreted as a significant step toward possible opposition realignment in the lead-up to 2027.
