Radio Nigeria’s Prime 101.5FM in Jimgbe, Kogi State, has gone off air following a brazen armed robbery attack in the early hours of Saturday.
According to reports, a gang of 10 armed men stormed the station, tying up the security guard and looting valuable transmission equipment worth millions of naira. The robbery lasted for over three hours without interruption.
Confirming the incident, General Manager of the station, Momoh-Jimoh Adeiza, described it as a devastating blow to their operations.
“This is a major attack. Our equipment has been stolen, and we are currently off air. I’ve informed our zonal director, and I’m calling on security agencies to act swiftly,” Adeiza said.
The security man on duty, Daniel Haruna, narrated the terrifying ordeal, stating that the robbers arrived around 1:00 a.m., wielding guns and cutlasses.
“They tied me to a tree and blindfolded me. I was helpless as they ransacked the station for hours. I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life,” he recounted.
