Two persons were abducted on Friday night in Lata-Nna community, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, following a daring attack by armed bandits.
Community sources identified the victims as Alhaji Adam Gbechi and Alhaji Aji Hajaworo. As of press time, the abductors were yet to establish contact with the families of the victims.
The incident occurred barely 24 hours after another attack on some communities within the Lafiagi Emirate. The repeated assaults have heightened tension and insecurity in the area.
Sources disclosed that youths of the Emirate had initially planned to stage a protest against the persistent abductions but were persuaded by the leadership of the Lafiagi Descendants Development Union (LADDU) to shelve the plan, fearing it might be hijacked by hoodlums.
Friday’s abduction has deepened fear among residents, who are now living in anxiety and uncertainty. Many have resorted to prayers, asking for divine intervention and the safe return of the kidnapped men.
Efforts to reach security agencies in the state for comments proved unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
