TRAGEDY: Delta Boy Accused of Raping, Killing Mother in Ughelli

A tragic incident has rocked Agbarho community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, as a young man identified simply as Emem allegedly raped and murdered his own mother.

The shocking event reportedly occurred around 10:00 pm on Thursday at Eferemor Street by Ovie House. Eyewitnesses said the suspect, who had previously shown signs of mental instability, fled the scene after the act.

According to sources, the victim was discovered by her younger son, who had just returned home. He found their mother lying naked in a pool of blood, with evidence suggesting she had been raped before being killed.

It was further gathered that the suspect had once stripped himself naked and invited his mother over with the intention of sleeping with her, raising earlier concerns about his mental health.

The police have since evacuated the body to a morgue in Agbarho community. Meanwhile, the suspect remains at large as of press time. Efforts to reach the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, for comments were unsuccessful.
