A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogba Oghenevewogaga, has claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is worried about the growing influence of the opposition ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking on News Central’s Breakfast Central programme on Friday, Oghenevewogaga alleged that the APC was behind the internal challenges facing the ADC, insisting that the opposition party would emerge stronger under the leadership of David Mark and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
He maintained that the ADC remains the country’s strongest opposition platform and argued that the APC fears the party because of its prospects in the 2027 elections.
According to him, Nigerians are dissatisfied with the current administration and are seeking a credible alternative, adding that the ADC is prepared to provide that option.
Oghenevewogaga also criticised recent comments attributed to the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, regarding youth empowerment through small-scale businesses such as frying akara and producing kulikuli.
He argued that such initiatives do not reflect the level of economic transformation young Nigerians need, accusing the APC of promoting policies that, in his view, fail to address poverty and unemployment.
The ADC chieftain said his party would pursue policies aimed at creating broader economic opportunities if it assumes power in 2027, while expressing confidence that the party would continue to gain support under the leadership of David Mark and Atiku Abubakar.
