Anambra First Lady, Sen. Ekwunife Trade Words Over “Malicious Allegations”

The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has clashed with Senator Uche Ekwunife, the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate in the November 8, 2025 election, over what she described as “malicious allegations” against her family.

In a statement on Saturday, Dr. Soludo dismissed Ekwunife’s claims as fabricated and warned of legal action unless the former lawmaker retracts her comments and apologises within 72 hours. She also challenged Ekwunife to a public oath-taking and DNA tests to put to rest the issues raised during the campaign.

The dispute follows a viral video in which Ekwunife alleged that Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his wife were part of the administration of late Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju (1999–2003). Ekwunife’s remarks came amid questions about her own academic qualifications.

“I have never worked for anyone in my life. I have been a professional and an entrepreneur all my adult life. I never met Dr. Mbadinuju of blessed memory in my life. In my 55 years on planet earth, I have known only one man, Chukwuma Soludo.”

“Since she claims to be a converted Catholic, I challenge her and both of us to swear an oath of fidelity and chastity at any Cathedral in front of the Blessed Sacrament. I will also swear with my children that I have known only one man,Chukwuma Soludo.”

Dr. Soludo further proposed DNA tests for both families to be conducted in three reputable London hospitals, pledging to cover all expenses.

“If, after the tests, it is confirmed that your husband is the father of all your children, I will congratulate you with a cash award. My family is ready for this test at any moment of your choice,” she said.

She warned that her lawyers had been notified and that a lawsuit would follow if Ekwunife failed to withdraw the statement.

Responding in a statement, Ekwunife insisted she only gave “friendly advice” and that Mrs. Soludo owes her no explanation on personal matters.

“If my statement caused any discomfort to Mrs. Soludo, she owes her husband an explanation, not me. Challenging me to respond or undergo tests does not involve me, as I am not part of her family affairs,” she said.

“My resolve to contribute positively and save Anambra State from misrule remains strong and undaunted.”

The heated exchange underscores the escalating tensions in the run-up to the November 8 governorship election, where personal credibility and character have become central issues between the APC and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
