Aligning with Gov Mbah’s Inclusive Devt, Hon. Uche Okolo Expands ‘Portable Water for All’ Project: Borehole Drilling Kicks Off at Ndiulo Imeama, Mgbowo Ward and Obuofia, Awgu Ward II

Awgu LGA, Enugu State — In a bold demonstration of his administration’s commitment to grassroots development, the Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has intensified efforts under his flagship “Portable Water for All” initiative by launching two major borehole drilling projects within 48 hours.

On Sunday , 24th August 2025, drilling works officially commenced at Ndiulo Imeama, Ekpulato Autonomous Community, Mgbowo Ward, bringing renewed hope to residents who have endured years of water scarcity. Continuing his aggressive push for rural transformation, Hon. Okolo today, Monday , 25th August 2025, flagged off another borehole drilling project at Obuofia, Awgu Ward II.

These projects form part of Hon. Okolo’s comprehensive vision to ensure sustainable access to clean, safe, and reliable water across all communities in Awgu LGA, in full alignment with Governor Peter Mbah’s inclusive development agenda for Enugu State.

Hon. Okolo emphasized his administration’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of the people:

“Clean and safe water should never be a privilege but a basic right for every household,” Hon. Okolo stated. “These projects are a clear demonstration of our resolve to complement Governor Peter Mbah’s developmental agenda and to make Awgu LGA a model of rural infrastructural transformation.”

So far, the “Portable Water for All” initiative has successfully delivered 14 solar-powered boreholes across various communities, directly impacting thousands of households and addressing long-standing water challenges.

The commencement of the Ndiulo Imeama and Obuofia drilling projects comes just days after Hon. Okolo flagged off the 3.5-kilometer Awgu–Ugwueme Road Project, which is expected to enhance connectivity, boost economic activities, and improve access to the Ugwueme Smart Green School — one of the region’s major educational hubs.

Community leaders, stakeholders, and residents from both Mgbowo and Obuofia have praised Hon. Okolo’s people-centered leadership, describing his administration as inclusive, transparent, and result-driven.

With these latest milestones, Hon. Okolo continues to set new standards in grassroots governance, driving infrastructural development, improving social amenities, and fostering sustainable growth in line with Governor Mbah’s vision for a progressive and prosperous Enugu State.
