Air Peace has announced that it has stepped down the pilot involved in the July 13, 2025 runway incident at Port Harcourt International Airport.
The airline’s Safety Manager, Capt. Godfrey Ogbogu, disclosed this on Sunday during an interview on Arise Television.
“In our internal investigation, we promptly stepped down the captain, who has not flown since the incident,” Ogbogu said.
He noted that the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has yet to release the results of the drug test conducted on the crew to the airline.
The incident occurred when an Air Peace aircraft veered off the runway while landing. A preliminary NSIB report revealed that the aircraft touched down 2,264 metres from the runway threshold, far beyond the recommended touchdown zone, before coming to a stop 209 metres into the clearway.
