Footballer, Ademola Lookman has said his focus at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is not on finishing as the tournament’s top scorer but on helping the Super Eagles progress.
Lookman has been one of Nigeria’s standout players in Morocco, playing a key role as the Super Eagles reached the quarter-finals following a dominant 4–0 victory over Mozambique. He scored once in the match and also provided assists for Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams.Nigerian Travel Packages
The forward has now scored three goals at the tournament, equalling his tally from the 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire. However, when asked if he was targeting the top scorer award, Lookman dismissed the idea.
“No,” he said. “Personally, I’m just thinking about the team. Now we are in the quarter-finals, our next opponent is going to be another strong team. We scored four goals, another big performance for the team, so that’s what I care about.”
With Nigeria still in contention, Lookman has the chance to surpass his previous AFCON goal record as the tournament progresses
