ADC vs INEC: You Sold Your Conscience — Dino Melaye Blasts Nafiu Bala

Melaye Accuses ADC Chairman of ‘Commercializing Conscience’ Amid Leadership Crisis

Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has taken a swipe at a factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nafiu Bala, accusing him of acting in bad faith amid the party’s ongoing leadership tussle.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday night, Melaye alleged that Bala had previously participated in a key party meeting that validated the current leadership structure he is now challenging.

According to Melaye, the ADC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on July 29, 2025, was attended by Bala and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He explained that during the meeting, party leaders including David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola were formally ratified into their positions.

Melaye argued that it was contradictory for Bala to now contest the same leadership arrangement he had earlier endorsed.

He further revealed that the party officially communicated the outcome of the meeting to INEC in August, with the electoral body acknowledging receipt of the update.

According to him, the ratification effectively confirmed David Mark as the authentic National Chairman of the party before Bala initiated legal action in September 2025.

Melaye maintained that based on party procedures, the NEC remains the highest decision-making organ, stressing that its resolutions should be binding on all members.

The remarks come amid ongoing internal disputes within the ADC over its leadership and direction ahead of future political contests.
