A 23-year-old woman has tragically di£d after a man fell from a high-rise apartment building and landed on top of her as she walked along a pavement in Japan.

 

The woman was reportedly walking with a friend in Nagoya’s busy Sakae district at around 1am on July 19, when the 29-year-old man fell from a 12-storey apartment building and landed on top of her.

 

Both were taken to hospital following the incident.

 

The woman later di£d from haemorrhagic shock. While the man survived the fall, he remains unconscious and in a critical condition. The woman’s friend suffered no injuries.

 

Emergency services confirmed they were called to a report that a man “fell and hit a woman”.

 

Police have not established whether the man fell accidentally or deliberately, and have not confirmed which floor of the building he fell from, reports Japan Today.

 

The incident happened in Sakae, a busy district known for its shops, restaurants and entertainment venues in the centre of Nagoya.

 

Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the fall.

 

Local media reports the man was not a resident living in the block of flats. Part of the investigation will also reportedly look into why he was there.
