Leaders of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, political stakeholders, and community groups converged in Enugu North Local Government Area on Sunday for the inauguration of coordinators of the Tomorrow Is Here Movement, using the occasion to reaffirm support for the governor’s leadership and signal early backing for his 2027 re-election bid.
The event, held in Enugu State, attracted party leaders, lawmakers, labour representatives, and community stakeholders who described the administration’s performance as transformational across key sectors.
State NULGE President, Udoagha Ani, said the administration had demonstrated strong leadership in tackling long-standing infrastructural deficits, noting improvements spanning healthcare, transportation, security, agriculture, tourism, education, and the broader economy. He added that labour-friendly policies, including extending benefits and minimum wage implementation to local government workers, underscored the administration’s commitment to grassroots development.
Coordinator of the movement in the council area, Uchendu Ozokwor, said the initiative aims to highlight developmental achievements and mobilise residents for continuity, citing road reconstruction and ongoing infrastructure projects as visible evidence of progress.
Executive Chairman of the council, Ibenaku Onoh, affirmed the local government’s commitment to the mobilisation drive, urging residents to rely on verifiable development indicators rather than misinformation.
Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Uche Ugwu, described the turnout as a reflection of growing public confidence in the administration, encouraging newly inaugurated coordinators to intensify public sensitisation efforts.
Similarly, Majority Leader Johnson Ani said sustaining current development gains requires collective commitment, emphasising continuity as key to consolidating progress.
From the opposition side, caretaker chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the council area, Ernest Onuoha, highlighted projects including transport terminals, healthcare centres, smart schools, technical colleges, agricultural investments, tourism infrastructure, and enhanced security deployment.
Community leaders also expressed support. Coordinator for the Hausa community, Abubakar Danladi, praised inclusive governance and security improvements, while Tony Okonkwo, Board Chairman of the movement, pointed to investments in smart green schools and healthcare facilities as strategic human capital initiatives.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Deputy Council Chairman Echezona Ugwu assured that mobilisation would extend to all polling units, noting that ongoing infrastructure projects have significantly improved living standards.
The event concluded with the formal inauguration of coordinators tasked with deepening grassroots engagement and consolidating support ahead of the next electoral cycle.
