OJI RIVER, ENUGU STATE – In a grand and symbolic gathering held on Saturday, July 18, 2025, the Enugu West Unity Forum (EWUF), Oji River Local Government Area Chapter, inaugurated its Development Area Coordinators and Ward Executives—ushering in what leaders and attendees hailed as a new era of unity, progress, and political consolidation in the region.
The event, marked by cultural vibrancy and high-level participation, attracted prominent traditional rulers and political figures from across Enugu West Senatorial District. Among the dignitaries present were HRH Igwe Chima Felix Achiekwelu, Chairman of Oji River Traditional Rulers Council; HRH Igwe Ignatius Okpala, Enyi I; HRH Igwe Sunday Ora, Chairman of Achi Traditional Rulers Forum; and HRH Igwe Lawrence Obi, Igwe Noshi—each representing various Development Areas within Oji River.
The traditional leaders collectively extolled the achievements of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, lauding his developmental strides across key sectors. They unanimously endorsed his leadership and voiced strong support for his reelection bid in 2027.
Key political stakeholders, including Hon. Greg Anyaegbudike, Chairman of Oji River Local Government Council; Hon. Osita Eze, Member representing Oji River State Constituency; and Arc Jake Udeh, President General of EWUF, reaffirmed their commitment to mobilizing grassroots support for Governor Mbah.
Pastor Paul Onwuka, Coordinator of EWUF Oji River Chapter, welcomed attendees by emphasizing the Forum’s mission of regional equity, unity, and accelerated development. He reiterated the group’s political stance with the phrase, “No Vacancy in the Lion Building Come 2027,” signifying unwavering support for continuity under Governor Mbah’s leadership.
In her remarks, EWUF Woman Leader, Mrs. Rita Chimaobi Ihemeje, celebrated the strong turnout of women, whom she described as the backbone of grassroots mobilization. She encouraged the newly inaugurated executives to engage their communities actively and promote the governor’s transformational agenda.
The Secretary General of EWUF, Nze Theo Onyebeke, concluded the event by urging lawmakers and political actors to enact policies that would institutionalize the governor’s achievements for future generations. He described Mbah’s impact as “unprecedented” and called for a collective push towards sustainable governance.
The ceremony featured captivating performances from the Mbaogu cultural music band and the Dynamic Women for PNM, who brought cultural color and unity to the fore.
